Biography

Philipp Schwabl is currently working as medical doctor at the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Vienna General Hospital and as a young scientist at the Medical University of Vienna, where he pursues his doctoral studies in vascular biology.

Since 2007 he is working in the Vienna Hepatic Experimental Laboratory of Prof. Thomas Reiberger and Prof. Markus Peck-Radosavljevic, investigating new treatment strategies for liver cirrhosis and associated complications. In addition, he works on clinical trials with the aim to improve diagnostic and prognostic assessment of patients with chronic liver diseases. He is also sub-investigator for international trials focusing on novel hepatitis C treatments.

Philipp Schwabl is member in several research societies (EASL, AASLD, OGIM, OGGH, OGMBT) and served as President of the Young Scientist Association (YSA) of the Medical University of Vienna. For his work, he received national awards and grants.
